The Joyce–Collingwood Station upgrades are guided by a long-term vision developed in collaboration with TransLink, the City of Vancouver, and the design team. The project addresses complex multimodal demands through the reconfiguration of the existing bus exchange and the expansion of the SkyTrain station. It also establishes a continuous and safe walking and cycling route along the BC Parkway, strengthening connections between the station and the surrounding neighbourhood.

The scope includes an extension of the existing platform and the introduction of new vertical circulation elements, including escalators and elevators, to improve accessibility and passenger flow. A new 875-square-metre station house consolidates key functions, providing a ticket hall, public concourse, and supporting amenities such as crew facilities, bike storage, future public washrooms, and a retail unit. The adjacent plaza is designed as both a civic space and an efficient bus queuing area, accommodating pick-up bays while maintaining a clear and flexible public realm.

The intervention establishes a cohesive architectural language that improves daylight access, enhances sightlines, and integrates structural and building systems within a legible framework. The original structural module is carried through the new work, organizing spatial planning while subtly informing the rhythm of the building envelope. This approach ensures continuity with the existing station while enabling the infrastructure to adapt to future growth and changing patterns of use.
